Honeywell Safety Products Contracts MJW to Upgrade Fire Protection at South Carolina Plant
In September of 2017, MJW began working with Honeywell Safety Products on how best to upgrade the entire fire protection system at their plant in Clover, South Carolina. In January of 2021, Honeywell contracted with MJW to provide additional fire sprinkler protection for new and existing hazards as well as to complete the underground fire main loop around the plant. The scope of work includes 3D design of approximately 1,500 feet of ductile iron underground fire main, two prefabricated valve houses, two low expansion foam systems, three water-based deluge systems and a dry pipe sprinkler system. MJW’s design department has worked diligently to produce all required design drawings and calculations needed to obtain local AHJ’s permits, Global Risk approvals and approvals from the State of South Carolina Fire Marshal. As of April the underground main installation is 20% complete and on-budget. The entire project will be completed while the plant is in operation with minimal interruption to daily plant activities and with a target completion in September, 2021. The project is currently ahead of schedule.
Honeywell Safety Products is a manufacturing facility that produces different types of chemical application gloves and sleeves. In addition to the previously completed fire protection project for the new chemical dip line at their Clover location, Honeywell has also awarded MJW with multiple projects at their North Charleston, South Carolina location. This project marks another milestone in building a long-standing relationship with a valued client.
