MJW Chosen to Make Sustainability Upgrades at IKEA Tampa and Orlando
In an era where environmental consciousness is top of mind, companies like Wiegmann Associates Inc. and IKEA are leading the advance toward sustainable practices. Their joint efforts in renewable heating and cooling (RHC) projects are not only commendable but are part of a greener future.
As a result of these efforts, MJW, was selected by Wiegmann Associates to perform work at IKEA stores and warehouses at both Tampa and Orlando locations. MJW’s scope of work consisted of structural reinforcement of existing bar joists to allow for increased equipment loads on top of the roof, along with site preparation and installation of a new Central Utility Building (CUB).
As a precursor to building placement, MJW arranged for permitting, layout, concrete/asphalt removal as well as the preparation, reinforcement, and placement of concrete foundations, and erection of a pre-engineered fabricated metal building. Additionally, MJW provided the fabrication and delivery of the cooling tower structural supports for installation.
Wiegmann Associates Inc., headquartered in St Charles, Missouri, previously contracted with MJW on several projects in the Savannah, Georgia area prior. The client indicated great satisfaction with their past experiences with MJW’s personnel and looked forward to awarding the Tampa and Orlando projects to MJW once again.
The renewable heating and cooling refits are slated for implementation at three additional locations around the country: Round Rock, Texas; Canton, Michigan; and Draper, Utah. Each location will implement a seamless transition to more sustainable HVAC systems while remaining completely operational throughout the process. All five upgrades are slated to be completed by the end of 2024, when these stores will exemplify the marriage of comfort and eco-consciousness.
