MJW Constructs 56-ton Access Structure for Symrise Plant Upgrade
MJW Consolidated has helped Symrise AG complete the addition of a sulfacid scrubbing structure at its Jacksonville, Fla., plant, which produces ingredients for perfumes, cosmetics and oral care products.
MJW constructed a four-level steel platform that provides maintenance and monitoring access to the new sulfacid scrubbing unit’s two vertical tanks, exhaust stack and piping system. The 56 tons of structural steel required for the project was supplied by MJW’s Lakeland, Fla., fabrication center. The structure includes a steel framework with nine sets of steel stairs, railings and deck grating.
MJW began its portion of the project in November 2018 and completed the work in January 2019, on schedule and with a perfect safety record.
“This Symrise-Jacksonville project highlighted several of MJW’s hallmark capabilities, including self-performance by our own people to ensure safety and schedule control,” said Chris Timpe, MJW project manager “We were also able to ensure efficiency and quality by fabricating the steel at our nearby Lakeland facility.”
Symrise AG is a global company based in Germany and is one of the world’s most successful manufacturers of scent and flavor ingredients for a wide range of perfumes, cosmetics and foods.
