Tropicana Brand Products Partners with MJW on a Stainless Steel Containment Housing Project
MJW was awarded a contract by Tropicana Brand Products to install 3/16” stainless steel diamond plate inside a 1,632 square foot containment system housing processing equipment at their Ft. Pierce, Florida facility. Due to damaging corrosives, the containment system required a barrier to protect against leakage escaping into the ground. Tropicana had first considered the installation of an epoxy coating, but moisture made epoxy an inadequate solution. MJW suggested a stainless steel liner that could be installed without requiring a shut-down of the equipment, prepared a bid and was awarded the work.
MJW’s Lakeland fabrication shop sheared all required plates, bending them to tightly fit the containment curb. MJW’s installation crew welded the prefabricated plates together, and made necessary on-site adjustments to keep the plates level and true to the floor. The installation process required a diversion of water during the welding of the containment housing’s seals.
Smooth partnership between different MJW operating units, plus good communication with the client contributed to the success of the project and a continued relationship.
