WORK ADVANCES ON KINDER MORGAN ELBA ISLAND, GA LIQUEFACTION PROJECT

MJW Consolidated is progressing toward completion of an extensive fire protection system upgrade at the Kinder Morgan natural gas liquefaction facility on Elba Island, GA.  Kinder Morgan contracted with IHI E&C to construct the Elba Liquefaction Project, valued at approximately $2 billion, just south of Savannah, GA. IHI E&C chose MJW to provide the fire protection system.

The first phase of the fire protection project involves the installation of over 25,000 linear feet of HDPE pipe, including 16-inch underground fire mains with 10-inch and 8-inch feeder lines, along with 120 post indicator valves, 160 underground service valves, 38 new fire hydrants and 120 fire system monitoring stations. Most of the stations have remote capabilities, allowing operators to monitor the system from a safe distance.

MJW’s expertise and familiarity with the soils and tide conditions on Elba Island have been a valuable asset on the project, which will connect to Kinder Morgan’s existing storage tanks and LNG terminal at Elba Island.

MJW Consolidated companies completed a total fire protection replacement project at the location in 2002 and have since completed multiple expansion projects, upgrades, testing and maintenance work.

When completed, the new liquefaction project will include 10 Move-able Modular Liquefaction System units, built by General Electric using Shell technology, capable of producing up to 2.5 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas for export per year.
